Bobby Robson has died!!!

Robson became a legendary figure as a manager with the likes of Ipswich Town, Newcastle United and England, but he firstly enjoyed success as a player.

He won 20 caps for England and gave sterling service to both Fulham and West Brom. What are your memories of Robson the player?

Stepping into management, Robson made his mark at Ipswich, winning the FA Cup and Uefa Cup, and twice finishing runners-up in the league. Was he Ipswich's greatest-ever manager?

Robson took on the England coaching job in 1982 and the closest he came to major success was reaching the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup. Was he unlucky not to win a major tournament during his time in charge?

He returned to club football and enjoyed success on the continent with the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Barcelona before returning to England to take charge of Newcastle in 1999.

What was Robson's best achievement during his time at St James' Park and how will he be remembered by football fans across the world?

The Suicide Act 1961 makes it an offence punishable by up to 14 years' imprisonment for anyone to aid, abet or procure the suicide of another. No one has ever been prosecuted, even though dozens of Britons who have ended their lives at Dignitas, the Swiss "suicide clinic" over the past decade, have often been accompanied by friends or relatives.

Why does it need clarifying?

Debbie Purdy, in an argument now accepted by the Law Lords, said the legal position was not clear enough and that people were entitled to know exactly the circumstances under which they could be prosecuted for helping someone else end their life.

What happens now?

The Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered a Crown Prosecution Service team to produce an interim policy by the end of September. A public consultation on proposals will follow with a final policy announced in the spring of 2010.

What might the policy say?

The current situation allows the DPP to decline to prosecute those who help terminally ill loved ones end their suffering, while retaining the power to prosecute anyone who had pressured a family member into killing themselves for personal gain. The published policy is likely to simply make this explicit. It may also make reassurances that all cases will be investigated in case of foul play.

Could Parliament come up with a new law on assisted suicide?

The Law Lords made clear it was not their job to decriminalise assisted suicide and the DPP's statement also remarked on the absence of legislation. An attempt to legalise attempts by people to accompany loved ones to Dignitas was thwarted in the House of Lords just weeks ago. New amendments that would change the law could be tacked on to legislation passing through Parliament or an MP may seek to launch a Private Members' Bill. Given the strong public feeling and the publicity surrounding such cases, the Government may even choose to bring about primary legislation on assisted suicide.

A Celeb Filled Day!

I was having lunch in the 'Sheppardess' On City Road in London today with a work colleague and thought I saw Felix Dennis outside. He looked like Felix Dennis and also he didn't. He actually looked really scruffy and walked to the post box and posted a letter. Would the Chairman of Dennis Publishing be wondering around the City, dressed like a tramp and post his own letters.

Felix Dennis is worth £750 million and has 3 homes, London, New York and Mustique. He can also been seen wondering around the City Road posting letters. I just wished I'd got my iphone out quicker to snap a pic.

My full english had arrived so needed to crack on with that. I wonder if it was him??
Also this morning I tweeted Jonathan Ross and he tweeted me back twice....
We shared a random meeting at Centreparcs in the early 90's. It was nice of him to tweet me!

#globaltweet update. A is for Albania and Afghanistan

My quest for a tweeter in every country has had a really slow start. Also, I'm not sure everyone can see the list I put up on this blog. Here's an update.

After a false start with me tweeting 'Anyone tweeting from Alaska!' I started in ernest on Saturday. Alaska, for those who bunked off Geography is a state not a country apparently. I'm concentrating on the A's at the moment. so Albania and Afghanistan. There are more but concentrating on 2 at a time is quite enough for a non-mulitasker like me.

From Albania but tweeting from the UK is oni_onka -born and originally from Albania. I've asked him to hook me up with some tweeters from his home country.

Tweeting from Afgahanistan is scott_kesterson -Photojournalist and Documentary Filmmaker.

I'm going to move onto Algeria and Andora now!

Countries of the World Twitter Bingo #globaltweet

I'm going to start a new project on Twitter. Inspired by some of the weird and crazy stuff I've seen on Twitter and put off by some of the useless spammy stuff, I've decided to try something different. Something I feel will add value, interest and knowledge to my Twitter feed and those who follow me.

COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD TWITTER BINGO!!

I'm looking for a Twitter friend from every country of the world. By friend I don't mean a 'lurker' or 'spammy life guru' who follows anyone who doesn't block them. By friend I mean someone who engages in tweets with me every now and then. I'll be growing my twitter follower base by concentrating on a country at the time. I've listed every country below and will be updating posts and introducing my new Twitter friends here and also 'live' on Twitter.

I'll use the hash of #globaltweet when looking for a new user. Please ReTweet using this hash tag. All of my tweets related to this will carry this hash tag.

Here's the list of countries in Alphabetical order.
